People are always asking me for referrals or recommendations for photographers in their area. Since I’m based out of the Cincinnati area and specialize in newborn photography, I wanted you all to get the chance to know some amazing photographers in different parts of the country! Heather Schroeder, owner of Heather Schroeder Photography, is located in Adel, Iowa and specializes in Senior Photography. Here is a short interview that I did with her the other day…
When did you first pick up a camera?
I grew up loving photography. I received my first camera for my 7th birthday, it was a barbie camera, and I was in love! I grew up dressing my dog, dolls and friends up for photo shoots. Of course in the 90’s it was when you had to take your rolls of film into the store and wait a week for your pictures to come back, longest week of my life! It wasn’t until I had my second child that I really picked up my camera to start documenting my children’s lives, and opened my business a few years later.
If you had to pick one thing to shoot for the rest of your career what would it be?
If I could only photograph Seniors for the rest of my career I would! I love knowing the confidence these seniors have in themselves after seeing how beautiful they really after the see the first few pictures we take!
Do you travel for sessions?
I currently do not travel for sessions, but it is a venture I’m hoping to branch out to in the next couple of years!
